GED Social Studies คือ ข้อสอบ GED ในรายวิชาสังคมศึกษาที่จะวัดความรู้ด้านสังคมศึกษาอย่างรอบด้าน ทั้งภูมิศาสตร์, ประวัติศาสตร์, เศรษฐศาสตร์ รวมไปถึงการเมืองและการปกครอง แต่การสอบ GED Social Studies จะมีความพิเศษกว่าข้อสอบอื่น ๆ ตรงที่รายละเอียดข้อสอบในรายวิชานี้จะวัดความรู้ด้านสังคมศึกษาของประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกาเกือบทั้งหมด

1. Reading for Meaning in Social Studies
เป็นข้อสอบที่วัดทักษะการอ่านทำความเข้าใจเกี่ยวกับเนื้อหาด้านสังคมศึกษา วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลทางประวัติศาสตร์ การทำความเข้าใจเกี่ยวกับบทความด้านสังคมศาสตร์และเปรียบเทียบวิเคราะห์มุมมองต่าง ๆ ออกมาได้อย่างมีเหตุผล ตลอดจนสามารถระบุใจความสำคัญและแยกแยะระหว่างข้อเท็จจริงกับความคิดเห็นออกจากกันได้อย่างชัดเจน
2. Analyzing Historical Events and Arguments in Social Studies
ข้อสอบส่วนนี้จะวัดทักษะด้านการวิเคราะห์เหตุการณ์และข้อขัดแย้งที่สำคัญทางประวัติศาสตร์ในด้านต่าง ๆ ไม่ว่าจะเป็น การเปลี่ยนแปลงทางสังคมและการเมืองในบริบททางประวัติศาสตร์ รวมไปถึงสามารถวิเคราะห์สาเหตุและผลกระทบของเหตุการณ์ทางประวัติศาสตร์ได้
